This is not a comparison about which one is bigger, or better built, or easier to live with. It is three decisions: how much motor you need, how much range you need, and whether you want a screen and a key.

The six lines that matter
| K2 | K2 GT | |
|---|---|---|
| Motor | 1 × 800 W | 2 × 1000 W (2000 W) |
| Battery | 48 V 15 Ah | 48 V 20 Ah |
| Rated range | 40–60 km | 60–80 km |
| Max load | 120 kg | 150 kg |
| Interface | colour LCD + key | full touchscreen + NFC |
| Water rating | IP54 | IP54 |
The full specification table lives in our launch article on the K2 GT; this piece is about deciding.
What a second motor actually buys you at legal speeds
The K2 GT has two and a half times the motor power of the K2 on paper. In most EU countries the road limit for this class is 20–25 km/h, and both scooters reach that without effort. So at the speed you are legally allowed to ride, the single 800 W motor is not your bottleneck — and the extra 1200 W is mostly not being spent.
Where it does get spent:
- Payload. 150 kg instead of 120 kg. At 95 kg plus a loaded backpack, the K2 is close to its ceiling and the K2 GT is not.
- Starting on an incline with weight on board. Two driven wheels do in a normal throttle what one wheel does with a run-up.
- Loose surfaces. Gravel, wet leaves, a kerb ramp taken at an angle. A rear-only drive pushes; two wheels pull.
- Headroom. If you ride on private land or a closed course, the second motor is what makes the higher figure usable rather than theoretical.
Which one, by situation
| If this is you | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Flat city riding, legal speeds, buying on price | K2 | The second motor is margin you will not use |
| Hills, or you carry cargo or a passenger’s worth of weight | K2 GT | 150 kg rating and two driven wheels |
| Round trip over 40 km, or you charge weekly rather than daily | K2 GT | 60–80 km against 40–60 km |
| You want the scooter set on a screen, and no key to find | K2 GT | Touchscreen plus two NFC keys |
| You need a scooter this week | K2 GT | Check current stock on the product page |
When neither is the right answer
A comparison should be allowed to say no. If any of these describes you, the honest recommendation is not in this pair:
- Your trips are under 8 km and flat. Neither drivetrain advantage shows up. The E12 is built for exactly that.
- You genuinely need 100 km, or 11-inch wheels on real off-road. That is the K3 MASTER, and neither K2 will substitute for it.
FAQ
Is the K2 GT just a K2 with a second motor?
It is a second motor, a 20 Ah battery instead of 15 Ah, a touchscreen instead of an LCD, and NFC instead of a key — in the same frame.
The short version
The K2 GT buys you a second motor you will feel on inclines and with weight on board, twenty kilometres more rated range, a thirty-kilo higher payload.
